Mathematical Bridge Across the Cam
Beyond Cloister Court at Queen's College, Cambridge, the wooden Mathematical Bridge leads over the river Cam to college gardens. The current bridge is a 1902 reconstruction of the original built in 1749. The bridge is so-called, Mathematical, because it was built without nails, relying for its strength on meticulous calculation.
RAND Europe is pleased to contribute to an intellectual heritage for which Cambridge is known and has fostered for almost 800 years. Photos on our research area pages were selected to suggest an association of our work with qualities reflected in a relevant image of Cambridge's 'past and present'.
