RAND Europe is an independent not-for-profit research institute whose mission is to help improve policy and decision-making through research and analysis.
We realise our mission by undertaking objective, balanced and relevant research and analysis; communicating our findings to a wide audience, often through publications, many of which are available on this web site; working in partnership with our clients; and working collaboratively with others.
RAND Europe's in-house teams offer multidisciplinary and multinational research strengths, both substantive and methodological. RAND Europe's work lies on the continuum between that of universities and consultancies, combining the academic rigour of universities and the professional, task oriented approach of consultancies.
Sharing a tradition of problem-solving
RAND Europe is part of the US-based RAND Corporation (the name of which was derived from a contraction of the term research and development). Since its inception in 1948, RAND has pursued its mission by addressing difficult challenges facing society, first in defence and national security and later diversifying in other areas of public interest. RAND has been privileged to work with 25 Nobel Prize recipients throughout the past 60 years.
RAND Europe has been active for nearly two decades. As part of the RAND Corporation, we add international expertise and make valuable contributions to traditional RAND research areas, while diversifying our knowledge base and analytical strengths to develop our unique research areas. Research produced by RAND Europe conforms to the quality-assured products for which the RAND name has been known for 60 years.
From our Cambridge UK base, RAND Europe continues the tradition of problem-solving by conducting research and analysis to address challenges facing many European countries. Much of this research is carried out on behalf of public and private clients. RAND Europe also conducts its own RAND-initiated research on issues that otherwise might not receive funding. We are managed by a small in-house team which works with associates at the RAND Corporation. RAND Europe's Board of Trustees oversees our work.
