Research for Allied and Defense Partners
RAND pursues a broad spectrum of work for key allied governments, prospective NATO partners, and newly independent European states. RAND conducts this research with strict adherence to its public interest charter and in consultation with the U.S. Department of Defense.
For years, RAND has been working closely with military policymakers in the Republic of Korea on defense and strategic issues. More recently, RAND has been conducting defense planning and analysis for the ministries of defense in Germany, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Romania, and the Czech Republic.
Other examples include:
- A broad program of technical assistance to Ukraine that ranges from fiscal policy to education reform to defense planning
- Studies of Turkey's changing strategic role for the Turkish Foreign Ministry
- A study of Taiwan's foreign and defense policy
Research for allies and partners spans the full breadth of RAND's research and analysis capabilities, spanning core competencies in international security and defense policy, acquisition and technology policy, and forces and resources policy.
