Mark A. Hanson
Research Manager/Analyst
Mark Hanson (M.S.E.S., M.P.A., Water Resources, Indiana University) is currently a Research Manager/Analyst at RAND with broad experience in energy research, wetland biology and regulation, environmental impact analysis and mitigation, land use and transportation planning, and remote sensing/geographical information systems applications in global change monitoring and assessment. Before joining RAND, Mr. Hanson was an Environmental Scientist for EIP Associates in Los Angeles, a statewide environmental and urban planning consultancy. Mr. Hanson has also supported U.S. Department of Energy research on renewable energy policy at Indiana University's School of Public and Environmental Affairs, and remote sensing applications in global change research at Indiana University's Center for Study of Institutions, Population and Environmental Change (CIPEC). Mr. Hanson holds a California single-subject teaching credential in Chemistry, and has taught high school science for five years. From 1990 to 1993 he served in the Peace Corps, teaching Physics and Biology, coordinating Peace Corps programs, and promoting sustainable agriculture in Cameroon, West Africa. Mr. Hanson earned a B.S. in Psychobiology, with minors in Business Administration and Computing from UCLA in 1989. Rev. 02/03.
