Biography Summary
Christine Eibner, associate economist at RAND, received her Ph.D. in economics from the University of Maryland in 2001. Her current research addresses trends in the availability and affordability of private health insurance, the economic costs of substance abuse, and military medical policy. Much of Dr. Eibner’s work involves quantitative analysis of large data sets, including the National Health Interview Survey, the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey, and the National Compensation Survey. Her research for the Institute of Civil Justice includes an analysis of health insurance costs for small businesses, with a focus on how growing health insurance costs have affected other forms of compensation at small firms. Prior to joining RAND, she was an intern at the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research (now the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality), and a post-doctoral research associate at Princeton University.
