RAND ICJ Research Agenda

The ICJ’s Research Centers reflects the range of civil justice issues in the U.S. and abroad. Most ICJ research falls under the first topic, improving civil justice. Other topics address more specific issues, some of which have emerged in the last few years, and are conducted within the ICJ’s several research centers.

Improving Civil Justice

We have been conducting objective, empirical research on all aspects of litigation, compensation, and dispute resolution for nearly 30 years.

Improving Workplace Health & Safety

We are one of the nation’s leading sources of research on workers’ compensation and workplace health and safety. This research is now conducted within the Center for Health and Safety in the Workplace, co-sponsored by the ICJ; RAND Infrastructure, Safety, and Environment; and Risk Management Solutions.

Managing Risk

Since 9/11, the ICJ has become the national leader in research on terrorism risk management, insurance, liability, and compensation, which is conducted in the Center for Terrorism Risk Management Policy, co-sponsored by the ICJ; RAND Infrastructure, Safety and Environment; and Risk Management Solutions.

Promoting Entrepreneurship

We are examining legal and regulatory policy as it relates specifically to small businesses and entrepreneurship within the Kauffman-RAND Institute for Entrepreneurship Public Policy.

Improving Corporate Ethics

We are examining how businesses can best conduct operations ethically, legally, and profitably at the same time in our new Center for Corporate Ethics, Law and Governance.
