Community Partners in Care (CPIC) Study

An examination of the effectiveness of CPIC, a community-engagement, network-building intervention, in two underserved Los Angeles communities. CPIC will implement Partners in Care and WE Care, which are designed to improve access to evidence-based depression treatments for primary care patients and, in WE Care, for social service clients.

Group Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Depression and AOD Disorders

Development and pilot testing of a new integrated group CBT for depression and substance abuse in outpatient substance abuse treatment settings

Depressed HIV Patients

A pilot, randomized controlled trial comparing the combination of antidepressants plus cognitive-behavioral training versus antidepressant therapy alone in improving antiretroviral adherence among depressed HIV patients with demonstrated adherence problems.

Treating Anxiety Disorders in Primary Care

The first large-scale effectiveness study of CALM (Coordinated Anxiety Learning and Management), an intervention to deliver evidence-based treatment to patients with any of four anxiety disorders prevalent in primary care: panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, and PTSD, including patients with comorbid depression and/or moderate substance abuse.

Depression's Impact on Antiretroviral Therapy in Uganda

A partnership with Ugandan investigators to examine the role of depression and its treatment in moderating multiple health outcomes of patients receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART) at two HIV clinics in Uganda.
