Interdisciplinary Research Centers

Building Interdisciplinary Geriatric Health Care Research Centers

Round II of a multipart initiative funded by The John A. Hartford Foundation to establish interdisciplinary centers in geriatric health care research, with a special focus on the development of innovative clinical and health services interventions for older adults. Interdisciplinary education and training opportunities for new and established investigators are also integral components of these centers. RAND Pittsburgh serves as the coordinating center, providing administrative coordination and technical assistance, monitoring and evaluating the performance of the grantees, and providing intellectual leadership and oversight of the initiative.

Roybal Center for Health Policy Simulation

A National Institute on Aging (NIA) grant that creates the Roybal Center for Health Policy Simulation to develop better models to understand the consequences of biomedical developments and social forces for health, health spending, and health care delivery. This is one of ten NIA-established centers to move promising social and behavioral basic research findings out of the laboratory and into programs, practices, and policies that will improve the lives of older people and the capacity of society to adapt to societal aging.
