Center Focus

To foster innovative interdisciplinary evidence based clinical and health services interventions, using a participatory model of research that engages stakeholders ranging from organizational health care administrators to the very patients who are intended to benefit from this effort.

Center Goals

1. Create a strategic plan, including a unifying vision and infrastructure, to foster and focus interdisciplinary research capacity and activity among senior and junior investigators at UNC-CH;
2. Provide career development activities for junior and senior scientists at UNC-CH to enhance interdisciplinary research capability and to foster investigative collaborations across disciplines and between researchers, clinicians, and health care providers on campus and in the community; and
3. Develop and conduct interdisciplinary pilot studies to provide research training experiences and to generate preliminary data to support NIH grant applications including work that builds toward the submission of a NIH Roadmap proposal; this effort will include collaboratively developing the Roadmap topic and aims, as well as institutionally approved procedures to conduct externally-funded research that cuts across disciplines and schools.
