RAND research wins 2008 Eisenberg Award
The article "Does ambulatory process of care predict health related quality
of life for patients with chronic disease?" by Katherine L. Kahn, Diana M.
Tisnado, John L. Adams, and colleagues from UCLA and RAND has received the
2008 Eisenberg award from Health Services Research. First presented in
2004, the award was established after the death of John M. Eisenberg, M.D.,
former director of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and
a leader in health care research. This annual award continues Eisenberg's
vision of translating research into policy. The award recognizes an article
published in HSR that illustrates excellence and original research within
the areas key to Eisenberg's work: primary care training and the
distribution and specialization of health professionals; appropriate and
cost-effective use of pharmaceuticals and policy structuring of a drug
benefit; physicians' utilization of services; and, improving methods
relating to quality and outcomes of care.
