Overview

The First Edition of the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), Forum 2009 is being held at the Ritz-Carlton, Doha, Qatar.

This event will focus on the theme, “Global Education: Working Together for Sustainable Achievements”. The main sub-themes of the forum will be addressed by internationally acclaimed, high-level keynote speakers and panellists.

Theme 1 - Pluralism

Creating education for respect and understanding, increase access and equalities in a globalised education.

Theme 2 - Sustainability

Sustaining educational systems through funding, governance, meeting needs and integrating different educational levels

Theme 3 - Innovation

Facilitating and driving change in content, access and delivery.

The WISE Forum 2009 is a “by invitation only” event that will bring together 1,000 leading education figures from all disciplines, levels, supports and media coming from more than 50 countries and representing the 5 continents. The participants will range from:

  • Academics: experts from teaching and research areas in major national education institutions from pre-school to higher education and life-long learning.
  • Policy makers: current and former politicians expert on education and interested in international cooperation.
  • NGOs/associations representatives: heads of NGOs/associations acting for education development and enhancement or for children’s causes.
  • Private sector representatives: multinational companies committed in education, development, IT, culture and arts.
  • Almost 200 journalists from a selection of top tier media
