Directory of Research Projects and Centers

The following links provide additional information on research activities conducted at RAND Education across all agenda areas.

Selected Projects

RAND Education conducts arts- and arts education-related projects:

RAND Education is also working on several projects and initiatives for Qatar.

Joint Centers

RAND Education sometimes conducts research in partnership with other institutions.

  • Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing, a research consortium that consists of RAND, UCLA, the University of Colorado, Stanford University, the University of Pittsburgh, and the Educational Testing Service. Two current studies are focusing on (1) the effects of state wide assessment reform on schools, classroom practices, and student performance, and (2) how to assess the performance of students with disabilities.

Children's Initiatives

See information available through the RAND Child Policy Project.

Work done in RAND's Labor and Population program shows that well-targeted early intervention programs, such as good preschools, can yield measurable benefits to disadvantaged children, some of which continue long after the program has ended. (See the report, Investing in Our Children.)

Work done in RAND's Safety and Justice program shows that other early childhood intervention programs help divert youth from a life of crime. The most effective programs, targeted at children who are at risk of eventual trouble with the law, are parent training, graduation incentives, and supervision of delinquents. (See the report, Diverting Children from a Life of Crime.)
