Ashlesha Datar
Ashlesha Datar (Ph.D Policy Analysis, Pardee-RAND Graduate School of Policy Studies, 2003) is an Economist at RAND. Her research focuses on health and educational outcomes of young children. Her work has addressed important policy relevant topics such as the effects of delayed kindergarten entry on school performance and the effects of class size on parental involvement. Her research on child health has focused on the causes and consequences of childhood obesity, in particular how the food and physical activity environments in school and neighborhood food prices influence children's body mass. In her current work, Datar is examining the determinants of parental investments during pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood.
